There are multiple ways to replace the rod bearings on E46 M3 and this kit includes the bare minimum basics for replacement with the subframe and steering rack removed. Our preference is to support the engine from above and remove the subframe with the steering rack and control arms still attached. It sounds like a lot of parts but is actually the fewest number of bolts/disconnections to make. All parts are Genuine or from an OEM supplier. This kit includes Genuine BMW 10W60 engine oil.

The bearings in this kit are Genuine BMW parts that have gone through the WPC treatment process. WPC is a microscopic shot-peening of the bearing surface to remove irregularities and imperfections. This reduces stress risers and improves fatigue resistance. Oil retention on the surface is also improved for better lubrication. Unlike physical coatings, WPC treatment will not decrease critical clearances between the bearing and crankshaft. WPC is our preferred bearing type over any stock bearing.

This kit fits M3 models from 4/2003 production date.

Connecting rod bolts are included in this kit for late model M3. Cars produced from 2/2003 have a M10 connecting rod bolt that is stretched when properly torqued so they must be replaced. The bolts in this kit are the original factory rod bolts (stronger and reusable ARP bolts are also available, inquire).

This kit includes parts for unbolting the steering rack and subframe from the chassis. This includes the crush washers used for the power steering pump on the engine but does not include any other hardware for subframe removal. Most hardware can be re-used so this kit favors the DIY or shop that only needs the basics. Obviously additional other parts can also be replaced at the same time - motor mounts, tie rods, boots, oil pan bolts, etc - contact us for a package deal!

Genuine BMW 10W60 oil is included. We prefer Red Line but won't discourage you from using the factory-approved oil, especially if your warranty dictates it. Red Line 15W50 is our preference because of it's superior characteristics in nearly ever spec.
