Genuine BMW 330i N52 Intake Manifold - Upgrade for E82 128i, E9X 325i/328i, E60 528i, X3, Z4

All of the N52 engines used in the 2006+ 128i, 325i, 328i, 330i, 528i, X3 30i, X5 30i, and Z4 30i share most of their major components. Yet their horsepower output varied by model. The 330i was the top performer with 255hp in stock trim. With only a few easy upgrades all of the other models can make the jump to 330i-spec - as much as a 40hp gain!

The biggest change comes from a different intake manifold. While the other models have a two-stage manifold that is tuned to maximize power and torque in the low and middle RPM ranges, the 330i manifold adds a third stage that makes more power at higher RPM. Low and middle RPM torque is unchanged, the 330i manifold simply adds an additional pathway for directing more air to make more power at high RPM. This intake manifold is a direct bolt-on to the above cars*!

* - The 3-stage manifold is a completely different design from the 2-stage. It uses two different DISA electric valves to direct airflow (DISA is a German acronym for Differential Air Control). Buying a new intake manifold does not include the required 330i DISA valves. While the intake manifold is a direct bolt-on, you still need the valves as well. This info applies to N52 engines; the N51 used in SULEV models already has a 3-stage manifold (but is de-tuned via software).

The second change comes from the 330i software - it has tuning to take advantage of the more airflow at higher RPM. While software is not required to install and run the manifold on a non-330i model, you will not be taking full advantage of the new flow, and will only get halfway to your goal.

It's possible to find a used 3-stage manifold through various sources. But there are a few things to keep in mind for used parts: overall condition especially of attachment points and hardware, condition of the DISA valves (they do fail with regularity), the 90 crankcase vent heater that is part of a factory BMW recall, and the potential of receiving the incorrect part from a shady seller. We won't discourage you from sourcing a used part but be aware of the pitfalls.

This intake manifold was originally used on these models: 2006 E90 330i, 128i/328 N51 SULEV, 2007-2010 E70 X5 3.0si, and 2006-2008 E86 Z4 3.0si coupe.
