Race software for the F22 228i, F30 328i, F32 and (N20 engine) is a reflash of the stock computer and installed with a cable and laptop. With over 50 maps to modify the 228i/328i/428i is transformed into a very capable and impressively quick track car. This software has been fine-tuned and co-developed with the BimmerWorld race team over many seasons in the Continental Tire Sports Car Challenge.
Race cars often need different software than a standard street car. With higher operating limits, cat-delete, and other modifications a standard off-the-shelf tune is the wrong choice. Our software is based on what we learned over many seasons with F30 328i race cars in CTSCC racing. No other BMW tuning and parts company has pushed the N20 further and harder on the racetrack. Our software is the perfect complement to any race or track 228i/328i/428i.
Modifying the software code gives us access and full control over multiple maps for fuel, ignition timing, camshaft and VANOS control, boost pressure, torque limiters, throttle response, and others. As this is Race software we also disable the rear O2 sensor and monitoring to run the N20 with a cat-less DP without check engine lights or codes. These are maps that any piggyback module simply can't touch or control. Most importantly, we do not disable any of the factory safeguards built into the software. This ensures that overboost and knock monitoring remain in place for maximum protection.
Software is installed with the Epic Motorsports Electronic Calibration Interface (ECI) connected to the OBD port in your dash and a Windows laptop. There is nothing to modify or remove and you never have to worry about modifications to the wiring harness. The ECI tool will read and save a copy of your stock software, which is then e-mailed to us for modification. A new tuned version of your original file is returned to you. This is better than off-the-shelf software tunes that never look at your original software. You can continue to drive the car while your tuned file is being processed.
Several stages of software are available. We have learned that controlling heat is one of the most important factors in tuning the N20 so a larger FMIC and larger radiator are very strongly encouraged with any Stage.
- Race Stage 1: a mostly stock car with cat-less downpipe and exhaust
- Race Stage 2: cold-air intake with cat-less downpipe and exhaust
- Race Stage 3: N20 Big Turbo kit with cat-less downpipe and exhaust
- Race Stage 4: N20 Big Turbo kit, intake, race cats in downpipe, and exhaust
- Race Stage 5: N20 Big Turbo kit, intake, cat-less in downpipe, and exhaust
Choose from 91 or 93+ octane ratings. Higher octane will better resist engine knock at the higher temperatures often seen at race tracks. We recommend the highest quality fuel you can find. Rev limit remains unchanged at 6,500 RPM. The top speed limiter is raised to unobtainable levels (310mph). Exhaust burble (backfire) can be added to any Stage.Notice of Emissions Non-Compliance.
