Schrick 328/316° performance camshaft for the M10 engine in the 2002 and E21 320i provides a lot more top-end punch when used with more fuel and proper tuning. It's designed only for fully built race engines where all of the components are designed to work together (not a la cart engine building), including custom pistons. There will be less torque in the bottom-end with this cam as it shifts power optimization to the upper RPM range. This cam fits late M10 engines used in 2002 and early E21 320i with a clockwise rotating distributor (engines up to 1980).

Camshaft tuning is all about optimizing air/fuel flow for your specific needs. The higher degree will open the valves sooner, deeper into the combustion chamber, and for longer time. Choosing the correct camshaft depends on the rest of your engine specs and goals. More aggressive cams should be paired with appropriate air and fuel upgrades to make full use of their operating specs.

New valve springs, upper retainers, and keepers are required (see link below). The cam journals must be bored larger to match the larger lobes and bearing journals of this cam. Professional installation is recommended.

All Schrick camshafts are made in Germany using wear-resistant chilled cast iron and machined with advanced CNC equipment. They have a one year warranty.

M10 328 cam specs:
Intake Lobe Duration: 328°
Exhaust Lobe Duration: 316°
Intake Valve Lift: 12.0mm
Exhaust Valve Lift: 11.15mm
Intake Valve Lift @ TDC: 5.5mm
Exhaust Valve Lift @ TDC: 5.5mm
Valve Timing (IO-IC-EO-EC): 64-84 78-58
Intake Valve Clearance: 0.25mm (0.0098")
Exhaust Valve Clearance: 0.25mm (0.0098")

Manufacturer's Notes:
1. While new springs may not be required, you must ensure the new valve lift does not fully compress the spring. It may be necessary to shim the spring's installed height.
2. Valve timing and valve opening durations are shown minus the ramps.
3. Valve timing is shown in °Crankshaft in relation to TDC.
4. All valve lift figures are shown without deduction of valve lash, i.e. the actual valve lift is the stated valve lift minus the valve lash. Hydraulic lifters have no lash so the valve lift is the actual valve lift.
5. Lumpy or rough idle is caused by valve overlap (intake and exhaust valves open at the same time). Some of the lumpy idle can be adjusted out with a proper valve adjustment using the new specs. Some roughness may remain, depending on the aggressiveness of the cam.
