This main stud kit can be used on both the 8 valve M10 and 16 valve S14 BMW four cylinder engines. You'll find the earlier M10 engine used on 1984-1985 318i models, as well as earlier E21 320i 4 cylinders and the venerable classic 2002 and 2002tii engines. The S14 16 valve, used in the 1987, 1988, 1989, 1990 and 1991 model E30 M3 uses this same main stud as well. 

All ARP main stud kits come complete with everything from the hardened parallel-ground washers to the aerospace-quality nuts you come to expect from ARP. Some applications have provisions for mounting windage trays and have specially designed standoff studs with serrated lock nuts to position the windage tray and lock it securely in place. 

The studs themselves are created from 8740 chrome moly steel, then are heat-treated in-house to 190,000 psi tensile strength, and finally precision J-form threads are rolled after heat-treatment to create a fastener that has threads 1000% stronger than others.
