Vibration Damper / Crank Pulley - 11238512072 - F30/F31 328d & F25 X3 28d (Diesel)

This part is listed by BMW as BMW part number 11238512072 and is described as Vibration Damper. Also known as a harmonic balancer, this installs on the 4 cylinder diesel engine used on the F30 328d sedan, F31 328d Touring Wagon and F25 X3 xDrive28d models. These models were offered in 2014, 2015, 2016, 2017, and 2018.

The vibration damper (or harmonic balancer) installs at the front of the engine on the front crank and is also the front crank pulley / serpentine belt system.

When the vibration damper fails, it no longer counter-acts the harmonic resonance that is naturally made through the engine and crank shaft. This can start as a slight vibration, but can lead to a major shake / vibration in the N47 engine that could lead to MAJOR internal engine damage.  Sometimes there are visual queues that the damper has failed, and sometimes the issue can't be seen externally on the pulley itself. 

The solution to a failed harmonic balancer is a new unit. This replacement unit is made by Corteco, the original equipment supplier (OE/OEM) to BMW. You can be assured this is a high quality part and is up to the task for a swift repair.
