This part is listed by BMW as BMW part number 83190404517 (83 19 0 404 517) and is described as LOCTITE 5970 black RTV Sealant.
This can be used to take the place of a paper, cork, or metal gasket. In some cases BMW no longer offers a gasket and recommends this RTV sealant instead. It's suitable for flanges and stamped sheet metal covers of either metal or plastic, such as diff covers, oil pans, and timing covers. It provides good sealing performance even at high temperatures, oil and coolant resistance, and a flexible seal even in high vibration applications.
BMW does not offer a gasket for the oil pan on B38, B46, B48, B58, and S58 engines. They use this 5970 black RTV instead.
This is a 50ml tube. Allow 25 minutes for it to set.
