Thicker Head Gasket Set, OEM Elring - E30 325i, E34 525i

Head gasket failure is a not uncommon M20 issue and it's something to take seriously. This complete head gasket set for E30 325i and E34 525i M20 engine has all of the gaskets and seals typically replaced during a head gasket repair. Instead of buying just the head gasket (BMW part #11121722738) you can get all of the other gaskets and seals needed to complete the job.

This gasket set is built around the thicker head gasket (included). A thicker gasket is needed when the cylinder head has been shaved to correct for warpage or general skimming or carbon cleaning. The included head gasket is 2.05mm thick - 0.3mm (.0118") thicker than stock.

Symptoms of head gasket failure include: white residue (tapioca) in the valve cover, under the oil filler cap, and in drained oil, low coolant (not caused by failure in cooling system), low oil, oil leak onto exhaust manifold, and loss of power from loss of compression. Cooling system trouble on the M20 must be addressed quickly as the aluminum head is easily damaged if overheating occurs.
