Ignition Rotor (Original), OEM - E30 M3 S14

This older design has been discontinued and unavailable from BMW for a long time. We have been unable to source any from BMW, Bosch, or any other manufacturer. See Related Items below for links to the updated cap and rotor.


This part is listed by BMW as BMW part number 12111309798 (12 11 1 309 798), and is described as the Ignition Rotor for E30 M3 and the S14 engine. This is the early-style with a pad for the spring-loaded center contact pin. Use with the matching distributor cap (BMW part #1211309797).

Ideally you would replace cap and rotor together and buy two compatible parts. However, sometimes it's necessary to replace one without the other. NOTE: The E30 M3 had two styles of distributor cap & rotor combinations. The early style has a spring-loaded center contact pin and the rotor is a flat contact pad on top. The updated style uses a solid contact pin with a recessed "pad" / hole on the top of the rotor. We also sell the updated style that is better for dedicated track cars that see constant high-RPM use. These parts must be used in correct pairs, please check your existing part numbers if you are not ordering both parts.

The updated rotor style has a hole at the top where the pin will make contact.

This is an OEM E30 rotor manufactured by Bosch - an original supplier to BMW for this part, as well as many other ignition components. As the OEM it meets all of BMW's original design, fitment, and performance requirements and is TUV approved. OEM parts are the best alternative to more expensive Original BMW parts because they are virtually identical without the inflated price tag. This part has a two year warranty.
