Our P3 power upgrade for the N54 consists of an Injen dual-cone intake, Epic Motorsports software flash, and colder spark plugs. The P3 package is perfect for someone who wants all of the extra power via flash and wants to hear more of the N54 turbo sound that is sadly muffled by the stock air intake.

The Injen intake for the N54 135i/335i is a dual-cone design - one for each turbo. Each filter is the largest that Injen designers could fit in the engine bay and includes a duct to draw cool incoming air from the grilles. Injen engineers design their intakes to carefully manage air velocity and air pressure using the Venturi Effect and velocity stacks. On our dyno the peak power did not increase by much but the Injen really delivered more torque in the midrange over stock - 13ft-lbs at 5,100 RPM.

One of our favorite attributes to an cone intake is that it lets more of the intake noise be heard - especially the stock diverter valves. BMW intentionally dampened the sound of the turbos to a point where you hardly realize it's a turbocharged car. The open intake lets more of the turbo "whoosh" be heard.

We use the software tune from our Stage 2 upgrade that has been developed and fine-tuned on our own Project 335i car. This software made huge gains - almost 100ft-lbs at just 3,000 RPM. And we loved how smooth the engine is on the street and track. Power delivery is substantially more but it's smooth and refined. Notice on the dyno how we were able to tune out a big dip at 5,250 RPM and the torque does not drop away as much after 5,500 RPM. The engine and throttle work better together with quicker throttle response.

Colder spark plugs are included that reduce the potential for pre-detonation caused by hotter combustion chamber temps. The stock plugs can run "too hot" and lead to fuel pre-combusting (engine knock or pinging) which causes the ECU to reduce timing and boost. This NGK plug is one step colder to give more reliable power.

Our software is installed via the Engine Calibration Interface (ECI) and your Windows laptop (compatible with XP, Win7, Win8, and Win10). The ECI cable is included at this price. Read and email your stock file and a tuned file will be returned to you. This is better than off-the-shelf tunes that never look at your original software.
