Belt Pulley Crankshaft Seal Guard, Vargas - N54, N55, S55

The Vargas Crank Seal Guard is a billet aluminum design with a slim tapered edge and full coverage to prevent any piece of shredded belt from reaching the crank seal. Other designs are not as strong (flimsy stamped aluminum) or don't have full coverage.

This crank hub seal is made by Vargas Turbo from lightweight aluminum. It installs easily with the front pulley removed and does not interfere with any other components or systems. This can be used on its own or with a Crank Bolt Capture kit (that prevents the crank hub from spinning).

Prevent your serpentine belt from slipping past your crankshaft pulley and into your engine block with this cover guard. It bolts onto the engine block behind the crankshaft pulley and provides a very tight seal that the belt can't get past. Fits on all N54, N55, and S55 engines in E82, F22, E90, E92, F30, F32, E60, F10, F13, F02, X3, X4, X5, X6, and Z4 models.

Make sure you inspect your serpentine belt regularly to watch for signs it could be ready to slip off. Look for oil stains, uneven wear, or the belt not aligned with pulleys and the tensioner. Because it tends to slip off at the top it's likely to spin from the crank pulley and get sucked past the factory crankshaft seal and into your engine. It's well documented online. And it doesn't only affect tuned or modified cars (this is a hot rodding problem) - but more likely on cars that have not had oil leaks or regular belt servicing.
