Mechanical Belt Tensioner, Genuine BMW - F10 535d, F15 X5 40d

This is the mechanical belt tensioner used on the N57 Diesel engine in F10 535d and F15 X5 35d.

Only for cars with Dynamic Drive or Adaptive Drive.

The tensioner keeps the main serpentine belt at the proper tension. A failing tensioner will allow the belt to loosen or slip resulting in diminished performance. In extreme cases the belt can slip off the pulleys. As a preventative maintenance plan, we recommend replacing the tensioner at every belt change, or 40,000-60,000 miles.
