Valvetronic Actuator Gasket, Victor Reinz - E82 128i, E9X 328i, E60 528i, X5 3.0, Z4 3.0

This is the profile gasket that seals the Valvetronic actuator to the valve cover on N51 and N52 engines used in the E82 128i, E9X 328i, E60 528i, E70 X5 3.0i, and Z4 3.0i. It's also used in select non-turbo F10 528i and X3 3.0i models.

A new gasket is required any time the actuator is removed or replaced or if there are signs of oil leaking around it.

The actuator moves the Valvetronic system on N51 and N52 6-cylinder engines. The actuator moves the camshafts and valves based on instructions from the engine computer. A failure of the internal sensor or the motor itself will throw a check engine light and may even stop engine function altogether. There should be a fault code for Valvetronic operation. Other symptoms include a loud, rapid clicking from the valve cover, and hunting idle and throttle hesitations.

This part is manufactured by an aftermarket supplier of European auto parts, including many gasket components. While not carrying OEM status, this part follows the design of the original very closely and uses similar materials. An aftermarket part may even have the same TUV approval as its OEM counterpart. The brand may even be OEM to another manufacturer besides BMW. This aftermarket brand has a two year warranty - the same as Genuine BMW and OEM brands.
