This part is listed by BMW as BMW part number 11657636424 (11 65 7 636 424) and is described as the OEM Borg Warner turbo charger for N55 powered Twin-scroll single turbo BMW models starting from 2011 on, thru 06/2013 production date. 

Starting in 2011, BMW switched to the N55 as their chosen 6 cylinder Turbo platform. This particular N55 turbo was used in many BMW models, including the last (final) years of the E9X 335i and E82 135i models, as well as all of the F30 335i, and X1 35i xDrive models. It's very commonly found in 2011, 2012, 2013 model years through 6/2013 (June 2013) build dates. This turbocharger was used on some early-production M235i models, making the production date very important.

While the N55 turbo setup is generally considered a step forward in reliability for the turbo 6-cylinder models, turbo failures are fairly common and expected on BMWs with high mileage, age, hard and aggressive driving, and higher levels of boost due to modification.
