Upgrading boost or the turbo will reveal deficiencies in other areas of the engine. On the N55T0 engine one of the first weak areas is the factory electric diverter valve. This GFB Diverter Valve is much more robust than the factory piece and is essential when making more boost. It's a direct replacement on the electrical solenoid on the N55T0 turbo used on 2016-2018 F87 M2.

The Diverter Valve (DV) helps regulate boost on the N55T0 engine. Instead of releasing overboosted air into the atmosphere (like on a blow-off valve) the DV redirects the overboost back through the turbo. It's an efficient and tight system that minimizes emissions and reduces components under the hood. The problems with the factory DV are two-fold: the plastic housing can break and create a boost loss and the spring and diaphragm are just too weak to hold up to increased pressures (either by design or by accident).

This Go Fast Bits (GFB) DV+ design is much stronger thanks to an aluminum housing and with a more robust internal spring and diaphragm. The DV+ is still actuated by the stock factory electrical solenoid which is still managed by the engine computer. So it still functions just like a stock DV but with better reliability, especially with more boost. Throttle response is also improved.
