If you are servicing your air intake tract or turbo on an N55 powered BMW 2/3/4 series or M2, you should consider either upgrading this part or preventatively replacing it before failure. It's made of plastic, so with age and exposure to heat, the plastic is known to get brittle and crack – sometimes in an epic way that leaves you stranded, sometimes in a slow boost / air leak that can have you chasing codes and problems. 

Either way, make sure your stock turbo air inlet is in good shape.
