Wastegate Actuator (Pot), Rear, BMW - E9X 335i N54

This part is listed by BMW as BMW part number 11657585746 (11 65 7 585 746) and is described as the wastegate actuator for the rear turbo on 335i N54 engines. It's also known as the "pot". This pot houses a diaphragm that works using vacuum from the engine and then actuates the internal wastegate on the front turbo. A failure of the diaphragm will cause the wastegate to hold open (no boost) or closed (overboost).

Important Note #1: Although connected to the wastegate, this piece is not a cause or a fix for N54 wastegate rattle. This actuator is the opposite side of the turbo from the wastegate. The rattle is caused at the wastegate shaft and bushing on the turbine side. Replacing this pot will NOT fix any wastegate rattle issues.

Important Note #2: this diaphragm could cause 30FF low boost fault codes but it would be rare. The 30FF code is more likely caused by the wastegate shaft and flapper not sealing well against the housing. A non-working diaphragm might cause this as well but we suggest troubleshooting the diaphragm with a vacuum pump before buying a replacement. There are plenty of things that can cause 30FF codes.

This is a Genuine BMW N54 wastegate actuator with a two year warranty. Buying a Genuine part will usually be more expensive than an OEM or aftermarket brand but you are assured that it meets BMW's designs for fitment, performance, and longevity. It will also be the very latest design, incorporating any updates or revisions that an aftermarket brand typically will ignore.
