Akrapovic Slip-On Titanium Center Resonator - G80 M3, G82 M4
Revised center section with a resonator for more volume and less restriction
This racing center section includes a tuned center resonator for better exhaust flow, lighter weight, and a sportier sound. This section reduces exhaust restriction while saving weight for better performance. The Akrapovic S58 center section includes a single resonator to tune the sound for a slightly more aggressive exhaust note and to minimize drone. It fits in place of the two factory resonators with a cut and clamp mounting method. This center section fits only with the Akrapovic M3/M4 rear muffler.
Akrapovic reports gains of 24hp, 18ft-lbs.
This section is made from a proprietary titanium. This is not the imitation titanium found on cheap exhausts - this is real titanium alloy that is proprietary to Akrapovic and produced in their own foundry. This titanium is three times stronger than other titanium, 40% lighter than stainless steel, and will not rust or corrode. This is a weight savings that makes a difference in acceleration and handling.
Akrapovic sound is distinctly European and exotic. Engineers tune every tube, muffler, and tail pipe to complement the powertrain. Many other vehicle parameters, such as vehicle speed, rpm, exhaust gas temperatures, and vibrations, are measured and correlated with the sound output to avoid unwanted vibrations or resonances. They further tune the exhaust to produce a thoroughly refined exhaust note that complements and accentuates the BMW engine.
In addition to sound tuning, engineers monitor exhaust gas flow and backpressure to improve performance and horsepower without affecting fitment or sound. Prototypes go through flow testing, dyno testing, and road testing to ensure there is no loss of power and that the optimal blend of sound and performance is achieved.
Akrapovic (ah kropoe-vich) is recognized as perhaps the most premium exhaust manufacturer for high performance cars and motorcycles in the world. Akrapovic's innovative use of materials like titanium and Inconel put them in a upper hierarchy among manufacturers and the racing and performance world has taken notice. All exhaust and carbon fiber products are designed and manufactured in Slovenia with very advanced methods including 3D CAD/CAM. Akrapovic exhausts have been used on MotoGP, Formula 1, Prototype, DTM, GT, and Touring race cars. They have been adopted by manufacturers such as BMW and Yamaha. Akrapovic is the exhaust technical partner for Aston Martin Racing, Audi Sport, and BMW Motorsport.
Notice of Emissions Non-Compliance. This exhaust section has been developed to work in conjunction with all factory emissions controls and equipment. Installation of this exhaust will not increase emissions nor cause a check-engine light or fault codes on a properly maintained vehicle. However, neither BimmerWorld nor the manufacturer can assure compliance with local or state regulations regarding sound levels or other compliance with vehicle inspection or registration. It is the responsibility of the vehicle owner to ensure his/her vehicle complies with all federal, state, county, or local regulations. Some suppliers will not ship to certain states, requiring extra delivery time. We will advise you of any delays.
