Original factory oil for most 2023+ BMW “30i” and “40i” models.
BMW 0W12 LL22FE++ engine oil is designed for 2023+ models with the B48 4-cylinder turbo and the B58N 6-cylinder hybrid powertrain. FE++ stands for Fuel Economy Plus (and more Plus) and is BMW's specification for lower viscosity oils with factory-approved additives for extended life.
The 0W12 is not just a fuel efficient and low emissions formula. The weight is advantageous for modern vehicles with hybrid drive and frequent stop/start engagement in addition to predominant city, town, and stoplight driving. The 0W12 is BMW-approved for the latest (2023+) four and six-cylinder engines (not Motorsport models) introduced from 2023 and is the initial fill for models with the 48V hybrid powertrain. These models don't use a traditional gear-driven starter motor and the lower viscosity makes the engine easier to spin for starting as well as engine starts while under way.

0W12 is not a requirement for these models and engines. It's the official “first fill” as the car leaves the production line. You can continue using 0W12 or the BMW-approved alternatives are LL17FE+ (0W20) or LL01FE (0W30).
Application note: if your model is not listed below it likely means this oil is not technically correct for your model. This oil does have some specific applications so not all 30i and 40i models use it. If in doubt, feel free to contact us and ask. As of 11/2025, no FWD models use the 0W12 oil.
