Red Line 10W50 SL/SM/SN and ACEA A3/B3/B4 rated and has similar features to BMW LL-01 oils but at a thicker viscosity. It's high temperature performance far exceeds any 10W40 engine oil. This is the better choice in hot climates too, even on newer low-mileage engines. Our recommended oil change interval is 5,000-6,000 miles with regular used oil analysis.
The Red Line xW50 oils are all very similar in laboratory tests and ratings and also similar to BMW-Castrol-Shell 10W60 oils. The Red Line oils tend to be thinner at cold temps (easier for tight bearing clearances) and also thinner in the high temp test but same or better shear resistance (stronger molecular bond under heat).

Redline oil has higher levels of ZDDP (zinc and phosphorous) and a higher HTHS rating so it does a better job of lubricating, protecting, and sealing in the hotter environments our turbo engines are capable of. This is especially important as engines accumulate mileage and wear as a thinner oil won't be able to provide extra levels of protection. Red Line Oil includes the appropriate levels of anti-wear additives and ash content to ensure compatibility with factory emissions equipment.
