A channel expansion lets you add up to 4 new sensors per hub and then run that data to your Data Hub or directly to your dash/logger. OBD-I and older cars will need one or more Expansion Hubs depending on how many sensors you plan to use. OBD-II cars have most of the valuable data available from the ECU and may not need an Expansion Hub at all.

Every sensor is considered one channel in an AiM system. Therefore, if you have 4 wheel speed sensors they will occupy one Channel Expansion Hub. And any other sensors will need another Expansion Hub. Each channel on the Expansion Hub can be used with either an analog or digital sensor (but not a thermocouple temperature sensor). In a typical BMW OBD-II AiM system, we can pull a lot of data from the vehicle CAN system itself. We may use only one Expansion Hub for extra readings.

Connect your sensors to the Channel Expansion Hub with 4-pin XG Conversion Cables (Binder 712 male to Binder 719 female). These are sold separately and available in multiple lengths in 500mm increments. The Expansion Hub will connect to your Data Hub or dash/logger with a 5-pin Binder 712 screw-on connector (included).
