Fuel Transfer / Sucking Jet Pump, Vemo - E46 323i/325i/328i/330i

Fuel Transfer Tube - E46 - Connects the Left and Right sides of the fuel tank.  This tube is sometimes referred to as the Sucking Jet Pump.

Not for cars with the M56 SULEV Engine

A common symptom of a failed Sucking Jet Pump is fuel starvation despite the fuel gauge looking OK.  A cracked or plugged suction tube will be unable to draw fuel from the left side of the fuel tank, leaving the in-tank fuel pump high and dry.
