This is the "early style" HFM with the 3-pin connector.

The airflow sensor or HFM (Hot Film Meter) is hugely important in the performance and fuel economy of the engine. Faulty airflow sensors usually cause rough running, poor idle, lack of performance, misfires, and higher fuel consumption. There may also be fault codes and check engine lights for air:fuel mixture, lean conditions, rich conditions, misfires, and others.
