This part is listed by BMW as BMW part number 13627843531 (13 62 7 843 531) and is described as "Manifold Absolute Pressure Sensor", or MAP sensor for short. MAP sensors can be found in more than one location on turbocharged BMW engines, and are used by the engine control unit to measure and monitor turbo boost pressure. This sensor is used on various BMW turbo engines such as the N20/N26 4-cylinder, S55 6-cylinder, and S63TU/S68T/S68X 8-cylinder.
Please note on some cars this sensor is used in multiple locations. On V8 engines there are multiple sensors for each bank of cylinders (left and right side).
Application/Fitment Notes:
N20/N26: located on intake charge pipe
S55: located on cold-side of top-mount intercooler
S63TU: located on each engine air-to-water intercooler
S68T/S68X: located on each engine air-to-water intercooler
