The filter size and shape have been custom-designed just for these models to maximize the available surface area and permit more air into the engine. The Track Series boasts a carbon fiber charge pipe finished in brilliant clearcoat and the aFe Power badge. Without a top cover the exposed air filter will drastically change the intake sound (for the better!) even with the heat shield. The Pro 5R is an oiled-cotton gauze filter media - the 5-layer filter flows a lot better than a paper filter while a small coating of retention oil traps dirt, dust, and debris. The Pro 5R filter is washable and reusable and only needs occasional cleaning and re-oiling from an aFe service kit.
