Intercoolers & Charge Pipes

Heat is the enemy of a turbocharged BMW, and a BMW intercooler is the first line of defense. Your BMW's intercooler must cool the hot turbo gasses before recirculating them into your BMW's intake system. The charge pipe connects the intercooler to the intake. Unfortunately the stock intercooler is barely-adequate, particularly on N54, N55, N20, and N26 engines. An upgraded front mount intercooler (FMIC) can keep those temps down (and the boost up!)
