Pipercross Performance Intake Kit - F8X M2/M3/M4 (S55)

Cold-air intake kit for F87 M2 Competition, F80 M3, and F82 M4 with the S55 engine). This uses a high-flow foam conical filters and the bottoms of the stock airboxes (where incoming air is ducted). A new heat shield is added to the stock boxes to better block hot air while the filters are exposed. This cone filter kit will improve airflow and really wake up the intake sound.

Pipercross evaluation of the stock system found that the intake was a limiting factor even for the stock S55 turbos. And bigger turbos or even stock tuning required better airflow than the stock airboxes and filters could supply. Pipercross' in-house R&D tests the stock intake system as a whole as well as per side. Then they design a custom filter and associated piping with CAD to come up with a better-flowing intake.

Pipercross uses a super efficient filter with graduated foam filtration media. A more porous outer layer is followed by progressively denser, tighter foam layers that each capture and filter out particulates like dust, dirt, and other airborne debris. This approach allows Pipercross to increase airflow by 30-40%, while screening for dirt and dust particles BETTER than a traditional accordion-shaped paper filter.

The foam filter is washable and reusable. Once a year, remove the filter and shake out any loose debris. Optionally, you can rinse the filter with warm water,  and air dry. With every third oil change or 15,000 miles, soak the filter with Pipercross cleaner, rinse thoroughly, air dry, and apply a very light coating of dirt-retention oil. Invest in the cleaning and maintenance of your filter and it will reward you with better performance for years to come!
