Genuine BMW S54 Throttle Actuator Pull Rod - 13547839073

This pull rod is the critical link in your S54 powered BMW's throttle body linkage. It connects to the central operating shaft (which then connects to each of the six smaller linkages for the individual throttle bodies or ITBs, as they're known). If this pull rod is worn or broken, you're going to have throttle issues on your S54. Replacing with this factory BMW piece is the best option. 

This piece should be on your parts list if you are doing any work on your S54 throttle bodies or throttle linkage. It is used on all E46 M3, Z3 M (S54 version), and Z4 M roadster and coupe models spanning model years 2001, 2002, 2003, 2004, 2005, 2006, and even 2007 and 2008 in the case of MZ4, the latest and last BMW model to use the S54 powerplant. It uses a "ball and socket" type linkage, where the receiver sockets (female portion) are on this link and are made of composite / plastic material. This plastic wears with time, causing play in the linkage, and eventually the link will "pop off" and leave your throttle not working. 

Even if yours has not totally worn or started popping off or broken, you may want to replace yours preventatively. Especially if you are doing any work around the ITBs, their linkage, or the air intake side of the engine.
