The BimmerWorld View: LL-04 and Euro Series oil is optimal premium oil for 2007+ BMW turbo engines with direct injection (every N54, N55, S55, B46, B58, S58, N63, and S63). LL04 oil has medium levels of SAPS (sulphated ash and phosphorus) - a byproduct of combustion. High levels of SAPS, such as from an older LL-01 oil can worsen carbon buildup and damage catalytic converters. The Red Line Euro Series oils have lower SAPS but minimal loss in protection and strength compared to the standard Red Line 5W30 oil.
Red Line Euro 5W30 meets BMW LL-04 standards and is SL/SM/SN+/SP and ACEA C3 rated. These are characteristics published by the oil manufacturers and Red Line products share or exceed the minimum standards set by BMW. Red Line Euro Series oil is compatible with the latest low-Sulphur gas and Diesel used in the US market (and the rest of the world). We love to use Red Line Euro oil on 2007+ gas or Diesel turbo engines where it provides superior protection to turbo bearings and ring sealing at elevated temperatures. Our recommended oil change interval is 5,000-6,000 miles with regular used oil analysis.
