Intermittent Wiper Relay - E30, E28, E23

This part is listed by BMW as BMW part number 61311368198 (61 31 1 368 198) and is described as Wiper-Wash-Interval Control Unit - which is a fancy German way of saying an Intermittent Wiper Relay. 

This wiper relay is found on both E30 3 series (the 1984-1991 body style, which also included 1992 and 1993 model convertibles) as well as the E28 5 Series (1982-1988), and E23 733i/735i. It controls and regulates the intermittent windshield wiper settings. When it fails it can cause windshield wiper problems including your wipers not working. 

Replacing your wiper relay on an E28 or E30 is actually very easy! The location of the E28 and E30 wiper relay is under the hood in the fuse and relay box. Simply pull out the failed wiper relay and insert this brand new OEM wiper relay and you're done. 

This relay was found on E30 3 series including 318i, 318is, 325, 325e, 325es, 325i, 325is, 325ix and E30 M3. It's also found on E28 5 series models including 528e, 533i, 535i, M535i and E28 M5. These models span the years 1982, 1983, 1984, 1985, 1986, 1987, 1988, 1989, 1990, and 1991. (1992 and 1993 are convertible models only.)
