Video: We got our hands on the new KMP Gen2 wheel!
An all-business F8X M2/M3/M4 steering wheel for the no-nonsense driver. 10-button layout gives you all the tools and features at your fingertips. Gen2 evolution wheel has cleaner look and more features.
Dedicated racing steering wheels hold several advantages over stock, factory wheels - they are lighter and simpler, smaller for quicker steering reaction, with better grip for driving gloves. KMP Drivetrain of The Netherlands has reverse-engineered the communications and pass-through controls needed to use a racing steering wheel with no errors and faults. This racing wheel conversion is nearly plug-and-play for a seamless connection to the factory wiring and includes a remote button panel.
KMP Wheel Features: + 330mm diameter (OMP Targa wheel) + Fixed Spacer or Quick Release hub (Krontec QR) + Almost Plug & Play connection means no errors or coding required* + OE connections between wheel and hub suppress cluster error lights + Paddle shifters have a more mechanical feel than factory paddles + Button panel with programmable functions + No permanent modifications - fully reversible back to stock + Aluminum housing covers wiring and connectors for sleeker look [Gen 2 feature] + Options for more buttons - 4, 6, or 10 button layouts [Gen 2 feature]
This listing is for the 10-button panel - for drivers who wish to have total control at your fingertips. There are two button layout options for this wheel (clockwise from top left): Option 1: Cruise Set, M1, M2, Horn, Speak, Volume +, Volume -, Speed -, Speed +, Reset Option 2: Cruise Set, M1, M2, Horn, Free, Free, Free, Speed -, Speed +, Reset A Custom option is also available (pricing and lead times vary - please inquire for a quote).
Free buttons are un-programmed for you to configure as you wish. The buttons use a switched to ground connection so no power is run through them. Wires are routed through the hub and ready for connection. For track use we suggest wiring buttons for data display, flash-to-pass, radio, map switching, or other functions if you have deleted the column stalks. For use with an AiM dash unit you will also need the AiM Remote Button Interface (see link below). There are two hub options for the connection to the steering column: Fixed: 44mm fixed aluminum adapter (recommended!) Quick-Release: a Krontec QR hub with coiled harness
Our recommendation is with a fixed hub. The Krontec QR is a ultra-high quality piece and our favorite QR hub but we don't use the QR feature much anymore. In the interest of simplicity our preferred option is the fixed hub. The wiring is different between the hubs so they cannot easily be swapped later on. * Install Note: Some very minor wiring work is required. This involves removing pin(s) from original connectors and re-installing them in new, supplied connectors. Small screwdrivers or pick tools will be required. Cutting, splicing, or soldering is not required for most OEM functions unless your wheel options call for it.
This product is intended for racing, competition, track, hobby, or other off-road use. We cannot guarantee it will conform to all federal, state, or local regulations for required vehicle safety equipment and we do not encourage its use in any motor vehicle subject to state safety inspection. The mounting hub is a solid, non-collapsible design that may cause serious bodily injury in an accident. Removing the airbag is a serious safety risk and should never be done when stock 3-point seat belts are still in use. 4 or 6-point racing harnesses must be used instead. The smaller wheel rim may block the stock instrument cluster depending on seating position.
