The Epic Motorsports Software calibration for the Spec E46 racing class makes a decent power increase (typically about 10hp over stock, but this is NOT a guaranteed number), provides a proper calibration for the spec race exhaust for this class, ensures reliable and safe operation of your engine, and removes many of the pesky electronic nannies, emissions issues, and check-engine lights that are unnecessary on a race car.
This software requires your ECU to be shipped to Epic Motorsports - see specific mailing instructions below. The ECU is flashed and then sealed per SE46 rules. The ECU is returned to you with the required seals. Typical turn-around time is one week. This software is only for Spec E46 cars - not your street car with eBay headers and cat-delete. The goal is to make a safe and reliable race car with none of the electronic nanny features that will disable a car on track. With this software, a Spec E46 build can remove the rear O2 sensors, secondary air system, original fuel tank (to switch to a fuel cell), and the evap system.
The sealing process of your ECU is not as simple as a custom flash, and therefore will require up to one business week for processing. Rush processing is available with prior planning -
you MUST discuss this with your salesperson at the time of ordering to determine if existing work schedule allows the expedited processing. Once sealed, your ECU will not be able to be overwritten or modified in the future. You can have Epic Motorsports reverse this procedure in the future for a fee, which will require opening the ECU and breaking the Spec E46 Seals. If your Spec E46 seals are broken, you must return your ECU to Epic Motorsports for a full inspection and potential reflash (and additional charge).
Order ProcessingPre-Flash Procedure: You must have a properly running car before tuning your ECU. Please read any existing fault codes and get the problem fixed prior to upgrading. Adding the Epic calibration to your ECU will
not solve your pre-existing problem or make Epic Motorsports or BimmerWorld responsible for diagnosing your pre-existing problem. This software is designed to function properly with a racing car built to the SpecE46 rules. Some fault codes are intentionally left alone to aid with diagnostics. Any additional fault codes will indicate an actual problem with the car (not tuning related).
SpecE46 rules require a MS43 ECU from a 2001-2/2003 330i/330ci/330xi. Cars made after 2/2003 use MS45 electronics which must be converted to MS43. Ideally this means the MS43 conversion should be running before you send in your ECU for programming. EWS-delete software is
not a standard feature of SE46 software but is available separately to aid in the conversion (see Related Items below). Any starting or running issues after an MS43 conversion will not be software-related and we will not be able to troubleshoot your conversion.
