Power Steering Asa Torx Bolt, M10x35

This part is listed by BMW as BMW part number 07129905738 (07 12 9 905 738) and is described as M10x35 Asa Torx bolt. This has a variety of uses in a number of BMW models but the most troubling one is the power steering pump on N54 models. On N54 the bolts may back out of the pump which causes the belt to loosen and fall off. Worn motor mounts, or stiffer high performance mounts, may induce more vibration that can cause them to back out. A double-whammy on N54 is the belt may get sucked into the oil pan and damage the crankshaft and other vital parts. Checking the N54 power steering bolt should be part of your normal maintenance routine.

This is a new Genuine BMW bolt but is not any different mechanically than the one already on the car. There may be slight differences in the finish to your original bolt (zinc vs uncoated) but it's a minor change. You can replace your power steering bolts (there are 3) or give the originals a quick check. Adding a little blue threadlocker (such as Loctite) is also advised to give them better resistance to loosening. Also apply a paint mark to the bolt head and pump to visually confirm the bolt is in its installed position.

This bolt has other uses and applications to other models. We chose to highlight the N54 problem above but your project may call for this part number even though we do not list it your car in the applications below.
