Koni Special Active Rear Shock Absorber - G30 530i 530e 540i M550i

This KONI Special Active rear shock absorber is the next generation of sport performance shock for 2017-2023 G30 530i, 540i, and M550i xDrive and Rear-Wheel Drive (RWD) models without M Adaptive suspension package.

The Special Active shock uses KONI's patented FSD technology (Frequency Selective Damping) to variably adjust the shock stiffness based on suspension movement. It's self-adjusting for road conditions! The shock uses a stiff setting on smooth roads or very slow suspension movements (cornering for example) and that gives it more control and better handling. But it automatically switches to a softer setting for rapid suspension movements such as a rough road. This keeps the ride comfortable and not jarring or harsh like a shock with fixed valving.

Since all of the technology is mechanical and internal to the shock there are no sensors, cables, electronics, or setup to work on. FSD has been adopted by OE manufacturers like Alfa Romeo, Lamborghini, and Mercedes-Benz and has also won praise in the RV market where shock damping is notoriously challenging (extremely heavy vehicles that must have a plush ride). The FSD technology and KONI lifetime warranty make them similar to other performance shocks from Germany.

This KONI Special Active rear shock replaces the previous gold-colored FSD shock sets. Special Active shocks are available in single shocks instead of only as full sets. This is a direct replacement for the stock G30 5-Series RWD shock, and uses the OEM mount and bump stop. Special Active shocks can be used with either stock or Sport springs.
