Front struts/shocks on the E82 128i/135i, E90/E92 325i/328i/330i/335i (not Xi models), E60 525i/528i/530i/535i/545i/550i (including Xi models), E63 645ci/650i, and E83 X3 are mounted to the chassis with this OEM front upper strut mount. It's a dense rubber mount that also incorporates a bearing that allows the strut to rotate as the steering changes. Over time the rubber breaks down and the bearing wears out and the entire mount should be replaced.

The 943 is most commonly associated with standard suspension while the 098 is most commonly linked to M Sport/Sport suspensions (although there are exceptions). Visually and geometry-wise they are identical. BMW originally used aluminum for the 943 housing while the 098 used steel. However, all of the OEM and aftermarket designs are aluminum (including this OEM part). On this OEM version the alignment pin is cast into the housing and non-removable.

This is an OEM E9X front strut mount manufactured by an original supplier to BMW for this part (usually Lemforder or Sachs), as well as many other suspension and driveline mounts. As the OEM it meets all of BMW's original design, fitment, and performance requirements and is TUV approved.
