The E46 325xi/330xi ball joint is located on the inside of the front control arm and is a common wear item. When the joint is worn it results in sloppy steering, clunking noises, and steering wheel vibrations. Ball joints should be replaced in pairs and the control arm has an outer ball joint and rear bushing that are sold separately.
This is the OEM ball joint made by Lemforder, the original supplier to BMW for many suspension parts including this ball joint.
