Adjustable sway bar links for E82/E9X non-M stock struts, E82 1M and E9X M3 with MCS struts, or F8X M2/M3/M4 with MCS struts. The BimmerWorld View: Adjustable-length sway bar links solve a number of issues that may come up when installing bigger bars or changing the ride height of the car. The more parts you change, or alter from the original configuration, the greater the need for adjustability and tuning. Adjustable links not only help with alignment and clearance but they can improve the effectiveness and performance of the bar itself.
Adjustable sway bar links solve three distinct issues: eliminate pre-load, optimize bar performance, clearance the sway bar from other components.Eliminating pre-load
is the more common reason for adjustable links. Pre-loading of the bar usually happens when the side:side ride heights are different. This is common in coil overs, and especially with race suspensions that get dialed in on scales or corner-balancing. You may find that fixed-length links no longer match up to the holes on the bar, requiring an adjustable link to avoid pre-loading or twisting the bar to make it work. While a single link can achieve that we feel that a pair of adjustable links has greater benefits.
You can optimize sway bar performance
by aligning the ends with the fixed mounting position on the chassis (the bushing and bracket). The bar is most effective when it's straight and with the fewest angles and bends. Depending on your ride height and other suspension components you may find the bar is in a not-ideal position, reducing its performance. A pair of sway bar links will allow you to rotate the bar to get it to an optimum position - the links straight up and down and the ends of the bar in a straight line to the bushing mount.
Adjustable links are also used to ensure clearance
between the bar and other components - suspension, axles, body/frame, and the exhaust. While the bar should be in an optimum alignment to ensure performance (see above) that may mean interference with other components. Use the adjustable links to avoid contact while the suspension is at ride height and
goes through its compression
. Clearance with the suspension in droop (such as on a lift) is less a concern unless you plan to be airborne a significant part of the time.
BimmerWorld Adjustable Swaybar End Link features:
+ The ball joint is precision-ground, heat-treated, hard-chrome-plated steel with a Teflon inner coating for the best and most durable performance possible
+ The ends are 4130 heat-treated, nickel-plated, chromoly steel
+ Each end link has opposing thread patterns making on-car adjustments and fine tuning an easy process
+ The rods are anodized swaged 6061 alloy for added strength compared to standard rods
+ A knurled ring indicates left handed threads
+ Vehicle or suspension-specific lengths. Other lengths available for custom fitments. Length is measured from the center of each ball stud.
+ Made in the USA
Sold as a pair.
We have identified common applications and lengths. Note
that some coil over kits come with their own custom-length links (usually shorter than a stock link). See the chart below and contact us if your application is not listed.
