These Meyle HD thrust arm bushings for the 1997-2003 E39 525i, 528i, 530i, and Z8 Roadster are a stiffer rubber compound than the original bushing. This helps improve steering feel and feedback but without hurting ride quality. The stiffer bushing allows less deflection of the thrust arm, which makes the steering feel more precise.

The thrust arm, also known as the pull rod, tension strut, or upper control arm, is the forward arm in the E39 front suspension (with the ball joint pointing down). The inner bushing is often replaced when the rubber degrades over time or from rough pavement. The bushing can no longer dampen suspension movement and you end up with a steering vibration, imprecise steering feel, and sloppy handling in your E39.
