This is the MCS 2WNR coil over shock set ready for your camber plates and spring package. This is the perfect package to begin building your E30 M3 track coil over suspension or to upgrade from your inadequate current dampers and hardware. MCS 2W are incredibly versatile with truly unique damping rates. The 2W is an excellent starting point that is tame enough to use on the street even with stiff springs. The shock internals share the same components as other MCS struts so it can be upgraded to a remote damper later. Contact us if you want us to help you complete your track coil overs!

MCS 2W coil overs are adjustable through multiple distinct and meaningful settings. What makes an MCS damper stand apart from the rest is in the shock tuning and rates. Each click has been plotted for specific rate targets and is not just an X% difference from the clicks around it. This is why an MCS shock can provide a comfortable ride on the street even with stiff springs and how it can deliver exceptional performance on even bumpy tracks. An internal blow-off valve unique to MCS also contributes to ride quality and suspension compliance even with hard impacts.

Can I run rear coil over in E30 M3? Coil over rear should only be done with additional bracing of the rear shock towers such as from a roll cage. Even a half cage or rollbar may not provide adequate support for the loads put upon the rear towers. In our judgement, only a cage purpose built with rear coil-over in mind should be used.

Rear coil over may not be possible or ideal in certain situations. The coil over arrangement takes up space in the wheel well (which may affect rear tire sizing). For E30 M3 our rear coil overs are inverted by default (standard non-inverted is also an option). Running inverted exposes the shock rod to more debris. Separated (divorced) rear springs is more common because it maintains the traditional and familiar layout and avoids the potential drawbacks.

Related Items: this is a “starter package” of dampers that form the basis of a custom coil over build. You will also need:
springs (2.25" or 60mm ID)
front camber plates (sized correctly for the MCS struts and springs)
sway bar links (the MCS mounting tab is lower so shorter links are required)

Core: these struts are built from your donor M3 strut housings/spindles. Because E30 M3 original struts/spindles are NLA and short supply, you MUST supply a set of M3 housings to be built. These cores should be shipped to MCS and turn-around is typically 4-6 weeks. There is no core charge because you are supplying the core upfront.
