This power steering pump is the one used on all 2000 and 2001 model BMW X5 4.4i & 4.6is V8 models, as well as 2002 models produced up to or including 06/2002 production date. If your X5 V8 was made 7/2002 or later, this pump is not the one you need (you need the later style). 

NOT for BMW X5 after 6/2002 production date. If you have a 2002 model year, be sure to check your production date, found on the driver's door VIN plate in the format MM/YY (month/year).
