This part is listed by BMW as BMW part number 32411092015 (32 41 1 092 015) and is described as "Steering AT-Vane Pump" (aka Power Steering Pump) for the 1995, 1996, 1997, 1998, 1999, 2000 and 2001 model BMW 740i and 740iL without SLS. 

Only for cars WITHOUT the self-levelling suspension option. If your 740i or 740iL has the "SLS" self-levelling suspension system, this is not the steering pump you want. This is designed only for cars without SLS. 

This power steering pump was used on both the M60 (early) and M62 (later) style V8 engines found in the E38 chassis 740i and 740iL models.
