If your 525i/530i came with the optional active steering, and you need a replacement power steering pump, you will need to buy a pump for the specific active steering models. This pump can be used on any 335i/135i sedan, coupe, or convertible as long as it came with active steering (option code 0229 / S229A).

This is a Bosch remanufactured PS pump, rebuilt and fully tested by Bosch, an original equipment (OE) supplier to BMW. While their are usually other less-expensive options for rebuilt and reman pumps, Bosch is the premium supplier as they also manufacturer them new for BMW (at a much higher cost) and have the proper manufacturing technology and parts on hand to make a rebuilt pump indistinguishable from a newly manufactured pump.
