All PS pumps wear and eventually fail, mostly due to running with low fluid level, dirty fluid, or overheating. Failing PS pumps generally get noisy, causing groaning sounds when turning the wheel. Once the pump fails it will leave your car undriveable without the benefit of power assistance.

This is a newly manufactured pump, not a rebuilt. There is no core charge.

Fluid note: new pumps are designed with seals compatible with CHF11S or EHF. ATF or similar "Power Steering Fluid" should not be used. Mixing CHF and ATF is not recommended and may lead to premature failure of the seals, pump, or rack and void the warranty. A complete flush of the entire steering system is recommended. We strongly urge you to add the CHF label to the cap on your reservoir (BMW part # 71212122171).
