Once worn, it creates imprecise steering and can lead to a very unsafe situation. Worn tie rods with play or damage will fail most annual inspections, as they are a safety concern.

For this reason, we suggest a close annual inspection* of the inner and outer tie rod joints to check for play or damage, especially on a track-driven vehicle. We recommend replacing the tie rods as a complete assembly only, as the inner and outer joints tend to have a similar service life.
