This tool is specifically designed to make extracting and installing the spark plugs easier on the N51, N52, N54, and N55 engines. Each spark plug is buried deep in the valve cover and space is tight. Once the spark plug is loosened (OEM spark plug tool recommended) slip this rubber tool onto the tip and complete the removal. It's the correct size for a perfect fit. Installation is also made easier with improved feel and alignment of the plug in the cylinder head compared to using a socket/extension (less chance of cross-threading).
