This part is listed by BMW as BMW part number 51138159315 (51 13 8 159 315) and is the left side (driver side) front kidney grille used on all 1997, 1998, 1999 and 2000 BMW E39 5 series including 528i and 540i models. 

We recommend replacing BOTH of your front grills in pairs. The end result looks fantastic and gives your front end the shiny chrome luster its been lacking on your classic BMW E39 5 series. 

This is a front LEFT side (driver side, on US / left hand drive models) chrome kidney grill.
