Regular or Activated Carbon filter? Regular filters are made of paper or textiles that are then electrically charged. The charged filter creates a static surface for foreign particles to cling to. Carbon filters - also known as charcoal filters - also use a textile material but with extra layers of chemically-treated carbon material (literally charcoal or charred wood).
