"Softlack" means "Soft paint" in German, and is describing the soft touch coating used on this lower steering wheel trim, while Schwarz is German for Black, the color of this trim piece. This style is nice in it's all-black semi-matte finish and is great for an all black look (if you want to remove wood grain or chrome) or if your current trim is worn and scratched. 

This style lower steering wheel trim was used on the Sport steering wheel of many E46 3 series, E39 5 series, as well as first generation BMW X5 (E53 chassis).
