Front Door Brake - 2002 2002tii - Left or Right Side (1967-2002)

This part is listed by BMW as BMW part number 51210301601 (51 21 0 301 601) and is described as Front Door Brake for the classic 2002 2002tii. Fits either the left or right doors (driver side or passenger side). 

If the doors on your classic '02 aren't holding in place, it's likely this part that's in need of replacement. The door brake is intended to acts as both a buffer stop for the door when it's opened (to not hinge too far, and risk damaging the front fender), as well as to help hold the door open as you enter/exit the vehicle. When the door brake fails, your door may not stay open, creating a scenario where you might accidentally "ding" the door (or have it close on your leg as you get in/out). Worse, if the door brake completely breaks itself, your door may hinge uncontrollable, and crash the front edge of your door with the back of your front fender. (Ouch!) This can lead to costly body shop bills. 

Fortunately replacing the 2002 / 2002tii door brakes isn't that hard, and the part is still available as of our last update.
