This is a Genuine BMW Front Fender, Right side (passenger side on US/LHD models) that's made for the 1997, 1998, and 1999 model 2-door coupe and convertible body styles. This fender has the “facelifted” opening for the facelift side marker light. 

This Front Right Fender fits E36 2-Door Coupe or Convertible, as offered in 1997, 1998, and 1999. This fender can also be used as an upgrade / retrofit for the earlier 1992-1996 models, if you are converting to the later (smaller) style side marker. 

Models that originally came with this right front fender include the 1997, 1998, and 1999 model year 328is, 328i Convertible (328ic), 323is, 323i Convertible (323ic), 318is, 318i Convertible (318ic), and M3 3.2 liter Coupe and Convertible. 

This part is listed by BMW as BMW part number 41358223927 (41-35-8-223-927) and is described as Genuine BMW Side Panel, Front Right. 

Not for cars before the 1997 model year. This fender has the later style side marker opening, so if you are not replacing a 1997, 1998, or 1999 2-door fender, and you are not retrofitting an earlier pre-facelift car, then this is not the fender for you.
